CAA Update CAP1789 due to EU UAS regulation package Delay. This means new drone rules that were due to start in July 2020, are now delayed til at least November 2020.
The European Commission(EC) is also considering a postponement to the Implementing regulations applicability date but the decision on this, and hence the final length of the delay period, is not likely to be made for a number of weeks yet.
What does that mean for Drone Flyers?
While non-essential flying has stopped during the COVID-19 lock down, its not a huge impact. However it does give some time to read and digest the full implications of the forth coming legislation.
Many are still confused by what does what and when with the EU UAS regulation package, and unfortunately the “Easy” to understand FAQ section the CAA has published in the update doesn’t help.
The CAA has to stop communicating as if drone flyers work in the aviation industry. Vast majority of flyers are everyday consumers who haven’t got a clue what the message is.
