DJI Launch the slightly Unnerving M300RTK Drone Platform
DJI Launch the slightly Unnerving M300RTK Drone Platform. The Matrice 300 RTK , available through the DJI Enterprises division is the latest development based on the utility workhorse M200 series.
More versatile than ever before, the M300 RTK can support up to 3 payloads simultaneously and has a maximum payload capability of up to 2.7 kg.
The M300 RTK integrates modern aviation features, advanced AI capabilities, 6 Directional Sensing, Positioning System and UAV health management system.
To make the most of commercial drone tasks the M300 has a headline flight time of 55 mins with no payload. When carrying the maximum payload of 2.7kg, the M300 has reduced flight time of 30 mins.
Improved Safety & Reliability
The M300 RTK comes with improved safety and reliability systems:
- AES-256 Encryption: Secure data transfer of the command & control uplink and video transmission downlink.
- AirSense (ADS-B technology): for enhanced airspace safety.
- Anti-Collision Beacon: for increased aircraft visibility, especially in low-light conditions.
- IP45 Protection Rating & Self-Heating Battery: for adverse weather conditions (-20 to 50° C).
- 6 Directional Sensing and Positioning System: offers a maximum detection range of up to 40 m horizontally, with options to customize the aircraft sensing behavior via DJI Pilot.
To meet the rigorous procurement requirements for emergency services, government agencies and insurance companies, the M300 has a range of system and sensor redundancies.
In the event of a motor malfunction, the M300 RTK can make an emergency landing with just three propellers/motors. The M300 & payload could be damaged during the landing, but the operator keeps control to avoid people or buildings.

So why Unnerving?
The M300 is a new commercial drone squarely aimed at the public order end of the market.
With Pinpoint, you can mark an object in camera or map view with a quick tap. Algorithms will immediately calculate its coordinates and shown on all camera views as an AR icon.
The M300 drone is capable Identify and follow moving subjects like people, vehicles, and boats.
The Smart Track has auto-zoom which can be applied for steady tracking and viewing.
Once the location is locked on, it’s followed. It then can be shared to another remote controller or to DJI FlightHub.
What ever the final use the M300 series is a serious work horse in the sub 7kg air class. Still looks a little light in the power department when kited with payload. How it will fair at the coal face is yet to be seen.
Where can you buy?
The M300 RTK drone will be available through the DJI Enterprise network of dealers.
There is a launch webinar on the 14th May 2020, find out more about the event HERE.
